Health & Safety (OHS) Officer
Location: Zambia | Industry: Road Transport & Logistics
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Occupational Health & Safety Officer to join our HR & Administration team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and health-conscious working environment across all operations. This role involves developing safety systems, enforcing compliance, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on workplace safety issues including machinery use, hazardous materials, and environmental risks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement preventative safety measures.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company standards.
- Organize and deliver safety training programs for employees and management.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety standards.
- Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of materials and equipment.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain accurate safety records and provide statistical reports to management.
- Stop and report unsafe acts or processes immediately when identified.
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety-related role (preferred).
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and handle pressure.
